Preoperatively, a 48-year-old patient had a painless nodule on the left side of the thyroid gland visible in her neck. Hormone levels were normal, so she did not require therapy. Ultrasound-guided cytopuncture showed that the nodule was benign.
Ultrasound showed a nodule with a pronounced peripheral blood supply, while the rest of the thyroid was normal. The patient opted for minimally invasive treatment - laser thermoablation.
After the procedure, she had pain when swallowing for several days, which she treated with painkillers. Thyroid hormones were normal.
Three months later, a follow-up ultrasound showed a normal thyroid gland, and the nodule was about 50% smaller and had no blood supply. As shown in the pictures on the left, the nodule dimensions before the procedure were 18x10mm, and after the procedure they decreased to 7.5x4.2cm. The patient had no complaints and was very satisfied with the result.
